Vermont Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) for 2009: Invitation to Participate (Added 11/6/08)
The Vermont Department of Health and the Vermont Department of Education would like to invite Vermont schools (with grades 8 to 12) to participate in the 2009 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). The survey will be administered by participating schools between January and February 2009. Results will be distributed by the beginning of school year 2009-2010. A Snapshot of Sexual Violence Prevention Education in Vermont
This report by the Sexual Violence Prevention Task Force (SVPTF), a legislatively defined project of the Anti-Violence Partnership at the University of Vermont, was compiled from responses to surveys distributed in the fall of 2007 to K-12 schools statewide and community-based prevention education agencies working in the schools. The data reported represents activities during the 2006-2007 academic year.
Health Education Resource Centers (HERCs)
The Vermont Department of Education operates a Health Education Resource Center (HERC) that maintains a variety of pre-K-12 health education materials. Currently practicing school and community-based health educators may borrow curricula, books, reference resources, models & kits and audio-visual materials.
HIV/AIDS Sample Model Policy
This sample comprehensive HIV policy for schools, updated in 2006, addresses rights of faculty/staff and students; issues related to confidentiality and discrimination; education and instruction; legal references and resources for assistance and information. Appendices include recommended best practices for HIV prevention education and confidentiality; HIV Universal Precautions procedures; sample confidentiality procedures; and consent forms.
Vermont Youth HIV Prevention Needs Assessment Project Summary Report
This summary report compiles data gathered through three separate phases which examined HIV prevention risks, education, resources and services as well as challenges to effective HIV prevention and suggestions for improvement for the youth population. View reports for each of the three phases. |
