The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) offers a voluntary certification process achieved through a rigorous, performance-based assessment process that takes between one to three years to complete. Due to statewide budget and staff reductions, this program has been placed on hold. It will be reinstated when resources again become available.
NOTE: Educators who are already in the process of receiving their $1,000 award will continue to receive the award until the three years have been met. Likewise, if an educator has already submitted his/her portfolio, has taken the tests and is awaiting approval, the award will be honored for three years after having achieved National Board Certification.
